How to organize a cultural festival?
How to organize a cultural festival?
Want to create your festival? Are you ready for any
challenge? Your cultural event!
The festival project
To begin, you must ask yourself a series of questions that
will be the main theme of your event: What? Who? Or? How? How many? Why?
Answering these questions will allow you to identify the
needs needed to create your festival and define your goals. Do not forget to do
a contextual and competitive analysis to find out what has already been done.
This first step will allow you to know if your ambitions are
realizable and to be able to concertize them.
Administrative formalities
The setting up of such an event requires a legal status. In
most cases, the organizers create an association as this remains the simplest
and most relevant. This status will allow you to create a bank account, sign
contracts with artists and take out insurance, which is mandatory.
Having a legal status also allows you to gain trust and
credibility with sponsors, the media and the various interlocutors with your
event.
It will also be necessary to get permission for the exercise
of your festival and occasional drinking places if necessary. The latter are
granted to the town hall and will allow you to welcome the public on the
festival grounds and market drinks.
Establish a budget and find funding
Establishing a budget is essential, it will give you the
opportunity to control your expenses and revenues, and to appeal to financial
partners.
Subsequently, you will need to set up a presentation folder
for your future founders. This file must include all the information about you
and the project you want to implement.
Various sources of funding are at your disposal
(universities, regional directorates of cultural affairs, the European Union,
local authorities, higher education institutions, sponsorship and patronage
etc.)
Not to mention the revenue from ticketing, booth rentals,
consumption of drinks, etc.
